Tame that mane

You find yourself having an appointment of some sort, or perhaps are just going out. You glance in mirror and in frustration, you yelp. Glancing at the calendar you notice that is has only been three weeks since you started you natural hair transition. Alas, here you sit, torn between that creamy relaxer;which you know will whip that hair back into complete submission, or the phone; in which you know the stylist has been wondering where you have been. What now? Do relax it, hair stylist it, or straight chop it?
All of these options are like gold in the moment of that transitional crisis, and all of them will indeed produce great results without a doubt. But there are also other options when it comes to taming that mane.

Transition into that natural isn't always easy, but it most certainly rewarding.

It is not always an easy thing going from chemical to natural. This process is not only tiring on your head but is also a mental issue. Think about it, most people feel great when they have just come from the salon-do they not? Of course they do. The hair on their head shimmers from  root to end, and if you got done up from the Dominicans  it swings like free air in the wind. No doubt the outcome from the salon is great, no fly away roots or ends, there is no frizz, no hassle no worries. All you have to do is wrap it and go. On the other hand.....you have the natural approach. You are changing from straight and manageable, to kinky curly and ridiculously argumentative. I mean, your hair is going from a normal to an unusual process. You have to worry about what do do. What can I do with this?
There are many approaches, but the best is........
Protective styling. This method has been around for years and years on end. When in doubt.. Braid that hair. Yes braids help prevent breakage and shedding when done properly. With the correct moisturizing technique braids can increase and speed up hair growth.
Think about it....
Have you ever know guys who get their hair braided? I mean it grows so fast. The reason why is because when guys get their hair braided, (Many) don't go through the process of constantly touching their hair. They do not put chemicals in it. Many keep their braids in for a month, and others keep them in for two weeks;  keeping up the braids on a bi-weekly basis.
Protective styling is most defiantly the bast way to go if you are not sure which way to go.

If you are a braid person, but just don't like wearing them in public there is a solution for that as well.
There are a variety of wigs, full lace or lace front. They most defiantly came in handy for myself. You can also try making your own, they are very easy and can last a while with proper maintenance.
Some more of the mane solutions

  1. Wash and go- moisturizing your hair, then sealing it with water.
  2. Twist outs- moisturize and perform a two strand twist either at night or for a day look.
  3. Flexi curls-Curl your hair for great volume and body-lishous curls.
  4. No chemical straight- Argon oil and a flat iron. Do remember there are "rules" the the natural thang.... Do it for you and nobody else.
The big chop-My last resort.. If you can say good by, then don't you cry... The big chop is what some people use as the start over. It is a great technique especially if you plan on doing it right.

There are many ways you can take your journey but ultimately, Your transitional journey is for only you. You can do it as many times but it will still only be your journey.
With that, happy hair styling.
