Basic is Always Better, Inversion Method, Manetabolism, and Big Chop

So it has been a while since my last post and I am pretty excited to share all of my amazing hair to do updates with you guys! Let me start off with saying, the tittle of this post is called Basic is Always Better because I have experimented with a few products over the last year and what I found was that with my hair, keeping it simple enabled me to not only retain more hair, but for the most part maintain a state of healthiness when keeping a basic regime was done consistently.

At the beginning of this year I found myself curious about some of the hair growth methods so many YouTube hair guru's were talking about. I first heard about the inversion method and snickered at the idea that so many women would allow the blood to rush to their heads for a whole 4 minutes. I found myself wondering who made up these rules and how they came about such a prescription. So I went and researched this new found prescription in silk and found some pretty interesting information pre-dating back to 400-3000 bc. It was said that yoga, or as I like to call it the art of bending and stretching was used to correct blood flow and stretch the spine. It is also suggested that hair aficionados may be accelerated while in this same inverted position. So although there is no medical validation of these claims I went ahead and decided to try it with success. My hair did actually grow the 1 inch with 1 week or 7 days. Still desperate for more hair growth I decided to try out a company called imakehairgrow.com. At the time, it was either between them or hairfinity and I really wasn't willing to spend all that money on one bottle of vitamins so I went with the less expensive route. What I ordered from them:
The hargasm vitamins
The oil
Deep conditioner
shampoo
leave in conditioner.
Here is my video on my order and thoughts.

Although I did love the vitamins, I can and certainly will do without the rest of these products. For my hair, the regiment was entirely too drying. This is not to say that the products do not work or are not good quality. They just simply were not for me and that's okay because what works for me, may not necessarily work for you, and vice versa. Now of the products that I ordered I absolutely loved the vitamins! My opinion: They worked amazingly for me. While my nails did not grow tremendously those babies grew and they were strong. My eyelashes were on FLEEK yall, and they were all homegrown! And my hair, it grew a lot in 1 month. The one thing that worried me was the intense itching my scalp endured for the first day. After that everything was all good.

Here is my after video with complete thoughts and results

Now while I cannot say enough good about the hairgasm vitamins, something in me still wanted to join that good ol bandwagon. You know, the coaster everyone is on until they aren't? Yep (raises hand slowly) that would be me.
So I will admit, I developed a temporary obsession. I started researching manetabolism and watching review video's for hours on end EVERY SINGLE DAY until I ordered, then hyping myself up until my order arrived. A shame I am...

Anyhow I started taking the manetabolism back in February and was rather excited about the results I got. But check this: see this part is the part of my journey I like to call JUST BEING PLAIN OLD DUMB. You know how they say too much of anything is never a good thing? Well apparently I suffered from selective memory because the mane choice's 5 step straightening system had me thinking I could do all things straightening. I was straightening my hair twice a week and several times a week. It got to the point where I started experiencing heat damage and had to cut off about an inch to kill the straight hair.
About 5 inches away from my goal length I pulled the ULTIMATE woman move. My fingers started to get stir crazy and the idea to cut me hair went from just an idea to just a requirement. So on April 4t [because it was a full moon] I did the big chop!

Boy was I mad at myself a week later. Because a good idea, should always remain an idea when dealing with hair and scissors. Oh well, you live and learn right?

So basically since my big chop I have decided to just keep it friggin simple. The only thing I have taken with me from the past year is my manetabolism. I take that every day and decided to try it topically in my oil.

So what am I doing now?

regiment:
Suave naturals conditioner for co-wash and wash and go just about every day. Because the whether is so wacky, the climate takes a toll on the moisture I retain. I stopped using store purchased products for a while but started back again to wash out the chlorine from my hair. Since the conditioner worked so well I chose to keep using it.
Coconut oil- this I use every couple of days if and when I was or co-wash my hair at night. Because my hair dry's so slowly and being it nighttime I like to keep a little extra moisture just in case my night scarf falls off. This prevents breakage of my hair.
My growth oil, this I use every other- every day. It is a mixture of jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, HGD drops (Human Growth Drops), and two capsules of manetabolism.

Thats it! Plain and simple. And for the days I want to jazz it up a bit I will use soy butter for stubborn hair.

*Here is a bit on info with a disclaimer
I do not endorse nor am I paid to promote any of these products I mentioned in this article. Everything I have mentioned I paid for out of my pocket and am giving my honest review of what I used.
Soybutter: I use the soy butter because it works in various ways for my hair. For starters if you are looking for a soft and light weight butter this works wonders. It helps smoothen and shine the hair. I also use this for my daughter after wash days.
Now some may be wondering why HGD? A while back I did a little experiment with these drops. The drops are used for an array of health related issues such as muscle building, increasing bone strength, obesity, and blood pressure issues. Now I am not sure how many people in the world see muscle, bone, and obesity and nonchalantly assume hair must be in one of those descriptions as well but hey! (Looks around the room slowly raising hand), yep me again :) So long story short I sprayed on pump on to what was a very thin area of my edges. I did this for about 4 days before I started seeing hair fill in. So there it is.
Now a bit of a real disclaimer>
I am not suggesting you go grab a bottle of HGD and douce your head with it, hey I am not even saying or suggesting you should try it. So any attempt or result is soley on you.

Back to the basics

Recently I stared researching the newest hair trends in the attempts of fixing my broken, brittle, and devastatingly dry hair.  I came across a few video;s on YouTube and all which were very interesting, I noticed myself falling back in to the same bandwagon pattern.
_Try this, it works, I do it, I do not stick with it and then it is on to the next thing.
Thinking about some of the wonderful video's that I had watched and the product reviews, I started remembering how beautiful my hair was when I was a child. The point to transitioning in to a natural state is to obtain healthy natural hair. It grows out into virgin hair right? So knowing this I devised a plan to keep it simple. Using the products that my hair best loved "Mane and tails" I began my third journey to natural hair just last week. The very first thing that I did was the inversion method, then went to the store for a 32 ounce bottle of mane and tails.

Yes the picture is backward.. But the results are very straight lined. Within my first application I immediately noticed results! My hair was very springy as if it had been brought back to life, it was soft and I had very little breakage. So using the Mane and tails now for about 5 days I find it much easier to manage my hair. I am actively taking care of it.. each night dividing the hair, moisturizing it and covering it it my shower cap and silk bonnet. My point to this method is keeping it simple and sticking to what makes my hair happy. I will be keeping you all posted on my success on this journey and don't forget to sub to my blog for updates, tips, and tutorials on what to do.. how to do's
